The Pulse of Planet Earth

Is the Planet’s Heart Beat Influencing Your Mood?

Most people have no idea that our beautiful Planet Earth has a pulse! And furthermore that our bodies are tuned to that pulse! It was discovered in 1953 by Professor W.O. Schumann of the University of Munich and thus is called The Schumann Resonance. Early in the space program, NASA realized that “space sickness” was a result of the Astronauts being removed from the Schumann Resonance and so they created an artificial Schumann Resonance generator for subsequent missions and for the International Space Station.

So what exactly causes this “resonance”? According to NASA, around 2,000 thunderstorms producing 50 flashes of lighting are present all around the planet, 24/7. This lightning creates electromagnetic waves that are captured between the earth’s surface and the ionosphere (the ionized part of the earth’s upper atmosphere) and creates a standing wave at around 7.83 Hz. As seen in the illustration below, the harmonics of this 7.83 Hz wave are also present. As a side note, the ionosphere is ionized by solar radiation and is affected by the Sun’s activity (Sun spots, Coronal Holes, etc.).

Once the Schumann Resonance was established and measured, it did not take long before scientists and physicians noticed the correlation between human brain waves and the Schumann frequencies. Since then ample research exists showing a connection, or entrainment, between human EEG (Electroencephalogram, used to measure brain waves) and the heartbeat of the planet. Moreover, it appears our brains and nervous systems need this entrainment as was discovered with the Astronauts’ space sickness.

Unbeknownst to most people, our solar system is passing through a hot, highly charged, highly magnetic field that NASA has nicknamed The Local Fluff. Also unbeknownst to most people, our entire solar system is experiencing climate change! This very well could be due to our journey through the local fluff which not only affects, well, everything electromagnetic, it also affects our Sun. Unfortunately NASA has not reported on the local fluff since around 2009 (why not?) and that leaves much to speculation on what effect it is having on us, our planet and solar system. Below is a NASA artist’s rendition of the local fluff in relation to our Sun.

In the last few years, the Schumann Resonance has been going a bit crazy. While we are now in the realm of speculation, it is likely that this interstellar cloud is effecting our Sun and our ionosphere, and as a result, the Schumann frequencies. In fact in the last few months it has gone completely berserk on February 17 and then again on March 17 (from 7am to 7pm both times). Odd indeed. The screen shots below are from the Schumann Resonance Observation Station in Russia. Normally (before around 2014) this chart was mostly blue with some green mostly at around 8Hz. Now it often looks like this! At first they thought they had an equipment malfunction though it turns out the equipment was fine. Our planet’s heartbeat is speeding up and has also become stronger as shown by the white verses green color.

What does this mean for us? As you know, our world is in a state of chaos with increased polarization among our citizens and a general state of dis-ease. Way too many people are experiencing anxiety, insomnia and depression. Could this be due in part to the objective measurable change in the Schumann Resonance? Remember, our brains and nervous systems are tuned to and evolved in the 7.83 Hz.

Next time you are feeling out of whack or unusually anxious or upset, I encourage you to check the Schumann Resonance to see if you are possibly experiencing its effects. Also know that your family, friends and colleagues may also be affected. Cut yourself and others some slack. We are changing as a solar system, a planet and as a people. When viewed from another perspective, this could be something to celebrate! Try to stay centered, grounded and calm. We have a bumpy ride ahead.
